Seaweed biodiversity and conservation
Work Package leader: Professor Juliet Brodie (NHM)
Key Question: How can improving biodiversity in wild and farmed crop species influence the long-term sustainability of seaweed aquaculture systems, what is the evidence that protection and restoration of wild seaweeds are beneficial to seaweed aquaculture systems and the wider environment?

Building seaweed resilience to climate change
Work Package leader: Professor Phaik Eem Lim (UM)
Key Question: How can development of cultivars from wild populations and diversification of different species of seaweeds enhance seaweeds resilience to disease and pests and productivity, as well as, sustaining seaweed production systems?
Improving aquaculture biosecurity
Work Package leader: Professor Cottier-Cook (SAMS)
Key Question: How can the recently released UN FAO Progressive Management Pathway for Improving Aquaculture Biosecurity be adapted and built upon to significantly reduce losses of production to disease and improve the health of cultivated and wild seaweed stocks and the wider environment in Southeast Asia?

Local knowledge, solutions, and biosecurity and equitable restoration
Work Package leader: Dr Bernadette Snow (SAMS)
Key Question: How can improving the health of cultivated and wild seaweed stocks and the wider environment in Southeast Asia, be inclusive, equitable and build resilience for local sustainable development?
